Because We’re Stronger Together
Facing increased competition from large, publicly-held solar corporations, in 2011 a small group of independently owned, impact-driven solar companies decided to work together to help each other, and others like them, rise to this challenge by forming the first 100% member-owned solar purchasing cooperative in North America. Today Amicus Solar Cooperative is a Certified B-Corp and Public Benefit Corporation with 80 member-owner solar companies who develop and build solar projects in all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Canada.

How We Do It
Supplier Partnerships
We pool our purchasing needs to help our member-owners gain cost advantages that allow them to provide a superior value to their customers, while also providing a reliable and heavily vetted customer base for our supplier partners. Building genuine win-win partnerships with our suppliers is a cornerstone of our business philosophy. We strive to provide our supplier-partners with easy, one-stop access to our members’ growing procurement dollars. Our combined buying power allows us to obtain discounted pricing, favorable credit terms, rebates, preferred service and technical support, and enhanced supply reliability from industry-leading manufacturers. To ensure our members are working only with top quality suppliers, each supplier must be approved by our Vendor Selection Committee, which includes passing both a stringent initial evaluation as well as ongoing assessments.
